Free School Meals

Dear Parent/Carer

This is a government scheme during lockdown and the school closure period, run by EdenRed. We have experienced quite severe quality issues with the hamper schemes (and the voucher system has also been glitchy in the last three weeks according to other schools), but we think vouchers will be a more reliable option from now on.

Under the scheme each child is entitled to a voucher worth £15 per week which can be spent in a supermarket which you can nominate from a list: Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose or Marks and Spencer’s. More supermarkets may be added at a later date.

The school applies for the voucher and we email it to you as soon as EdenRed send us the codes. You can print it or have it on your smartphone for scanning at the supermarket checkout when you shop. It cannot be redeemed against non-food items: specifically the official guidance states alcohol, tobacco or lottery tickets.

We will email vouchers by the end of Monday each week, (ideally we will try to get them out the Friday before, but it will depend on when the company release the codes).

The vouchers have an activation date for the week of issue and cannot be used before that date, so the voucher for next week will be activated from Monday 20th April and can be used any day across the rest of the week. The next voucher may be emailed to you on Friday, but will not activate until the 27th April.

Children who attend the care provision at school access free school meals there and are not entitled to the voucher.

Most of you have been contacted already regarding email and supermarket preference.  If we have not managed to contact you, we will nominate a supermarket on your behalf for this week and you will need to let us know your preference for future weeks.

If you do not have email or internet access, we can post the voucher to you. Please let us know if this is the case.  For more information and to register for FSM click here

We hope you are keeping well and safe at this time. If you have any questions please let us know and we will do our best to help.

Best wishes
